The farm is easily accessible. The B966 at Inchbare connects with the A90 dual carriageway. The land at Kilgarie Farm was acquired by the sellers in 2007. It has been farmed as part of a larger farming business. Previously the land had been grazed with significant quantities of slurry and farmyard manure being returned to the land. Latterly it has been in arable production, growing seed potatoes, spring barley, winter wheat and winter oil seed rape. All the land is scanned for vari-rate seeding and is thoroughly tested for soil nutrients and there are excellent levels of potassium, phosphorous and magnesium, and good PH levels (with copies of the report available on request). Extensive drainage works have also been undertaken. Typical yields are reported as:
Crop Yield Nitrogen
Winter Wheat 3.25-3.5 tonnes/acre 200 kg/ha
Spring Barley 2.75 tonnes/acre 130 kg/ha
Winter Oil Seed Rape 1.75 tonnes /acre 200 kg/ha
As such the land is in good heart and is capable of growing a good range of productive crops. In addition land is let for seed potatoes. The land ranges in height from 135 m to 200 m (440' to 650') above sea level, and is classified by the James Hutton Institute as being Class 3(2).
