Mole Valley Farmers sells off fertiliser site to Thomas Bell

Mole Valley Farmers has agreed to sell its fertiliser storage and blending facility at Newport in Wales to Lincolnshire-based fertiliser importer Thomas Bell and Sons.

Following the sale, it is understood that Mole Valley Farmers will continue trading both blends and compounds, but will no longer manufacture its own blends of fertiliser.

Thomas Bell and Sons already operates sites at Immingham, Grimsby and Sharpness, and the new site will increase its offering across the UK, helping to expand the range of fertiliser products it sells and the company’s storage capacity.

Andrew Major, managing director at Thomas Bell and Sons, said: “Expanding our business into the South presents an exciting opportunity for growth and development.

“We are excited to offer increased production and deliver a higher level of service, which is key to developing a stronger and competitive position in the marketplace and to supporting UK agriculture.”

Mole Valley Farmers chief executive Jack Cordery said: “We’re pleased to cement our relationship with Thomas Bell, and through this Mole Valley Farmers’ customers will continue to enjoy a wide range of competitively priced fertiliser products out of the Newport facility.

“We have a long history in the fertiliser trade and by combining our volumes with Thomas Bell we look forward to realising further economies of scale for our customer base.”
