T°-Sum makes record early arrival

T°-SUM – the figure based on cumulative temperature used to judge when fertiliser should be applied to grass – has been reached early.

Thanks to unprecedented high daytime temperatures, most grass-growing areas in Britain are at or close to the critical T°-Sum of 200 already.

Farmers in dry southern Britain have been able to cash in on early grass. However, in the north, ground conditions may still be too wet for work.
